Stripping and Disinfecting

DISINFECT AND SCOUR WITH BLEACH WATER

When is this treatment necessary?
If the diapers have been in contact with a contagious disease
• If the diapers you purchased are used
• If you encounter odour problems. You will need to use disinfectant bleach (at least 5.25% sodium hypochlorite or with mention “kill viruses / – germs” or instruction for disinfection). Note that bleach is used in cold water only.

DIRECTIONS FOR USE (must be done on clean diapers)

  1. Fill your washer or tub with cold water and add ½ cup of bleach for an average load.
Note that bleach is only used in cold water.
  2. Stir well.
  3. Soak for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  4. Empty the tank and rinse with hot water (the hot water disables the bleach, this step is very important).
  5. Rinse without soap and bleach at least twice or until you no longer see foam.
  6. Wash in warm water with your usual detergent.

STRIPPING WITH OXICLEAN

When is this treatment necessary?
• When the diapers smell like feces
• When the baby is experiencing skin irritation
• When the baby is wearing light diapers

  1. Fill your washer or your bath with hot water (60°) and add a ¼ cup of OxiClean for an average load.
  2. Stir well and leave to soak overnight (or at least 4 hours).
  3. Empty the tank and rinse with warm water.
  4. Put the diapers in the washer and rinse in warm water with spin
  5. Repeat the previous step until you no longer see foam.
